Job Description
At a high level the planning function is pretty straight forward. The complexity is in the details as many projects have specific/unique requirements that need to be clearly understood and accounted for.
Services & Deliverables Performed
Coordinate with project managers system designers and implementers to complete pre installation planning tasks.
Interpret server connectivity requirements/building blocks
Work with local resources to determine network equipment and cabling needs twinax/copper/fiber optics etc
Interface with vendor representatives to obtain quotes and place orders
Create network designs that outline both physical and logical connectivity
o vlan assignments (Production management backup etc. request new VLANs if needed public/private (clustering)
o obtain IP addresses and request DNS entries
o server to switch cable mapping build management production job
Issue work orders for cabling and network configuration/port turn up.
Track and document the status of dependencies deliverables and retain all project artifacts
