Job Description

SUMMARY:

The Production Supervisor is a key role in the CMC operations team overseeing the safety, efficiency, and output of all production processes and production personnel. The position will provide supervision and leadership for CMC production processes including sewing, manufactured systems, mechanical assembly, job preparation and inspection . The Production Supervisor will work cross-functionally with engineering, quality, production staff, and suppliers on continuous improvement and corrective action projects. An outstanding Production Supervisor will be an effective team leader and have excellent organizational and time management skills.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead the production team(s) in the efficient manufacture of high-quality life safety equipment
  • Measure, review, and report on the effectiveness of production activities and employee performance
  • Train and evaluate assigned staff on CMC production processes and work instructions
  • Identify opportunities and lead process improvement and/or corrective action tasks
  • Monitor and prioritize the production workflow to meet deadlines
  • Evaluate available capacity, resource group demand, and assign workload accordingly
  • Issue materials, review for variances, and close job orders while ensuring accuracy
  • Track metrics and create reports to communicate manufacturing performance to management
  • Ensure all production equipment is working properly and used in a safe manner
  • Maintain the optimal layout, cleanliness and organization of the production floor, inventory and storage areas
  • Communicate job expectations and coach employees
  • Conduct annual reviews for production staff
  • Ensure compliance with all OSHA regulations as they relate to the production department
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures
  • Assist with any other duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Demonstrates good judgment and decision-making skills
  • Excellent management and communication skills. Ability to manage and build relationships.
  • Proficient in MS Office. ERP experience a strong plus.
  • Demonstrates interpersonal, leadership skills with ability to interface well with other departments and lead effectively
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a manufacturing plant environment
  • Understanding and experience in Lean manufacturing environment preferred. Participate in continuous improvement projects and 5S related performance teams.

QUALIFICATIONS (education and experience):

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • BS in Business or BA in Business Management preferred
  • Bilingual (English / Spanish) preferred
  • 3-5 years manufacturing experience, with supervisory and work planning experience
  • A combination of training, education, and experience that is equivalent to the qualifications listed above and that provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Working conditions are in a normal warehouse environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk; sit and stand; using the hands to handle, finger, or feel objects, tools, or controls. Occasionally, the employee must crouch or kneel. The employee must occasionally exert or lift up to 50 pounds. Successful performance requires good eyesight with or without corrective lens. Requires long periods of time working at a computer and includes phone work.
